Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Senators vs. Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones

The Springfield Senators will take on the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Springfield took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Williamsville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Senators skirted past the Bullets 3-2.

Tyler Elliott made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 7.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season.

Elliott wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Scheffler, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart-Griffin can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Jacksonville.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.
