Baseball Game Preview: West Anchorage Eagles vs. Palmer Moose

The West Anchorage Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Palmer Moose at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West Anchorage is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Eagle River, falling 11-4.

Paul Dittrich was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Meissner, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Eagle River hit Palmer with a six-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Moose lost 12-2 to the Wolves. The Moose have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Palmer now has a losing record of 1-2. As for West Anchorage, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Anchorage has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Palmer struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

West Anchorage came up short against Palmer in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, falling 5-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
