Softball Game Preview: Calabasas Coyotes vs. Agoura Chargers

Calabasas is 1-9 against Agoura since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Calabasas is taking a road trip to face off against Agoura at 3:30 p.m. Calabasas has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Calabasas is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They lost 15-1 to Louisville.

Calabasas saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Manno, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Agoura). They put the hurt on Newbury Park with a sharp 18-1 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chargers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Chaden Chatelain made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Mia Gomez was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Amaya Del Olmo, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Agoura kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Agoura has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. Calabasas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Calabasas suffered a grim 23-7 defeat to Agoura when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Calabasas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
