Football Recap: Southeast Spartans vs. Putnam City West Patriots
Southeast had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 21-13 victory over the Putnam City West Patriots on Friday.
A big part of Southeast's win came down to the chemistry between Louciano Williams and his top target Montre McGlugritch. Williams threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes while McGlugritch picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave McGlugritch a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two).
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southeast's defense and their four sacks. Damon Davis refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Putnam City West's side was Davis, who picked up 1.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast will take on Northwest Classen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Putnam City West, they will square off against Putnam City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
