Basketball Recap: Batesville Comes Up Short

After flying high against Paragould last Friday, Batesville came back down to earth. The Batesville Pioneers took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nettleton Raiders on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Raiders are ranked 33rd).

Batesville's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Nettleton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Batesville will square off against Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marion has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Nettleton, they will venture away from home to square off against West Memphis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
