Preview: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Clearwater Tornadoes
The Tampa Prep Terrapins will head out on the road to face off against the Clearwater Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Tampa Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Winthrop College Prep Academy, posting a 82-46 victory at home. That looming 82-46 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Tampa Prep yet this season.
Tampa Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Treniti Fluker, who scored 25 points, and Gabby Bush, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bush has scored all season. Natalia Long was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Clearwater stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 64-20 victory over Countryside on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Clearwater has posted since December 12, 2023.
Clearwater's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allevia Williams, who scored 21 points along with eight steals. Another player making a difference was Pink Sturdivant, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Tampa Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Clearwater, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
Tampa Prep came up short against Clearwater in their previous meeting back in December of 2019, falling 59-50. Can Tampa Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
