Volleyball Recap: Battery Creek Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ashley Ridge last Thursday, Battery Creek came back down to earth. The Dolphins took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks on Wednesday. The Dolphins have struggled against the Landsharks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Battery Creek started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-10, 25-20, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Carter Grissom and Logan Bradham, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Jaime Maldonado and his 21 assists. Finally, Merrick Ellenberger and Jeremiah Rivers kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked four attacks.

Battery Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Battery Creek has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Fort Dorchester on the 2nd. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, they will host Academic Magnet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
