Volleyball Game Preview: Maloney Spartans vs. New Britain Golden Hurricanes

The Maloney Spartans will challenge the New Britain Golden Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maloney will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Friday, Maloney made easy work of Lewis Mills and carried off a 3-0 win.

Maloney never let Lewis Mills on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8, 25-23.

Meanwhile, New Britain faced Xavier in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Golden Hurricanes fell 3-1 to the Falcons. The Golden Hurricanes' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-8, 15-25, 25-14, 25-19.

New Britain's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Maloney, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's game: Maloney has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.4 aces per game. However, it's not like New Britain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
