The Marionville Comets will head out on the road to take on the Forsyth Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marionville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Marionville made easy work of Southwest and carried off an 18-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.
Brooklyn Holder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Maggie Murphy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Annaliyah Ghan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Marionville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in three consecutive games.
Forsyth never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Miller on Monday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Cardinals.
Like Marionville, Forsyth also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Turner. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. With that strong performance, Turner is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lili Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Zoe White, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Forsyth has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Marionville, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marionville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .487. However, it's not like Forsyth struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marionville couldn't quite get it done against Forsyth in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
