Basketball Recap: North Hills Christian Takes a Loss

North Hills Christian played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Victory Christian Center Kings and fell 102-42. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while the Kings are ranked 52nd).

North Hills Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maverick Ball, who posted 19 points. Ball has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. Jacob Strickland also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Abubakar Cham was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Victory Christian Center. Cham has become a key player for Victory Christian Center: the team is 14-2 when he posts at least eight boards, but 4-7 otherwise. Christian Petty was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points along with seven steals and five assists.

North Hills Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Victory Christian Center, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-9.

North Hills Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Victory Christian Center, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-57 loss against Winston Salem Christian on the 6th.
