Preview: White Oak Vikings vs. Mill Creek Hawks
White Oak has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Mill Creek Hawks at 1:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
White Oak has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 72-50 margin over Wake Forest. With White Oak ahead 41-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
White Oak's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Curtis Jackson, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Derrick Benbow jr, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The game was Benbow jr's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaemon Noel, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Mill Creek escaped with a win on Saturday against Seneca by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mill Creek.
White Oak pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Mill Creek, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
