The Edgar Wildcats will square off against the Phillips Loggers at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Edgar is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Edgar didn't have quite enough to beat Marathon and fell 6-5.
Isabella Kaiser made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Ella Baumgartner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Phillips, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Athens on Thursday, sneaking past 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Annaka Tobias made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trinity Smith was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Raelee Williams, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Phillips hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 7-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Phillips' victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Edgar, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Edgar got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Phillips by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Loggers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
