Basketball Recap: Savannah Comes Up Short

Savannah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Bryan County Redskins, falling 46-24. While losing is never fun, the Bluejackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Redskins are ranked 65th).

Bryan County was led to victory by Ashanti Brown and Jasmine Mikell. Brown dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Mikell posted 14 points. Mikell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Harvey, who had three points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Savannah now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Bryan County, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Savannah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-40 defeat against Metter on the 14th. As for Bryan County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-37 victory against Bulloch Academy on the 14th.
