Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Gilbert entered their tilt with Airport on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-21, 25-18.

Gabby Esposito paced Gilbert's offense, picking up 16 kills. Esposito got some help from Kaylie Spires and her 17 assists. Spires was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Airport, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gilbert is set to take on their familiar foe Gray Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Airport will square off against rival Brookland-Cayce at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
