Baseball Game Preview: Blue Springs South Jaguars vs. Liberty North Eagles

Blue Springs South hasn't had much luck against Liberty North recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Blue Springs South 3.6, Liberty North 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Blue Springs South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Blue Valley Northwest, who was ranked sixth in their home state at the time (Blue Springs South was ranked sixth). The Jaguars took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Thursday. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty North, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Blue Springs get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Eagles have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Harrison Tritz looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Troy Fisher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jacob Bell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Liberty North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Liberty North's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-10. As for Blue Springs South, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.
