It was fun while it lasted, but Muncy's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Towanda Black Knights. The loss was the Indians' first of the season.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dominic Guardini, who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and four steals. Guardini has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Stiles Eyer, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Muncy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Muncy fell to 5-1. As for Towanda, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muncy will venture away from home to take on Neumann Regional Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Muncy is facing Neumann Regional Academy at the right time seeing as Neumann Regional Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Towanda will take on North Penn-Liberty in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Penn-Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
