Soccer Game Preview: Aledo vs. Fossil Ridge

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Aledo challenge the Fossil Ridge at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Aledo will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Friday, then bounced right back against Chisholm Trail on Friday. Aledo blew past Chisholm Trail 6-1. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge kept a clean sheet against Azle on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Hornets. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Hornets are ranked 770th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aledo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Fossil Ridge, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Aledo beat Fossil Ridge 2-0 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aledo since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
