Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Gilead Indians vs. Cardington-Lincoln Pirates

For the second straight game, Mt. Gilead will face off against Cardington-Lincoln. The Indians will be playing at home against the Pirates at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Gilead has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 17th.

Mt. Gilead fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cardington-Lincoln on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-3.

Cole Fricke spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Hayden Somerlot made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Cardington-Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Mt. Gilead, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
