Softball Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. McBee Panthers
Chesterfield and McBee are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Chesterfield Golden Rams will head out on the road to take on the McBee Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Chesterfield proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 7-4. The win was just what Chesterfield needed coming off of a 15-4 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, McBee made sure to put some runs up on the board against Central on Tuesday. McBee put the hurt on Central with a sharp 15-4 victory. The win was some much needed relief for McBee as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Lily Beasely was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Kendra Chestnut was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Chesterfield's record now sits at 3-5. As for McBee, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
Chesterfield took their win against McBee when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chesterfield since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
