Baseball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Montverde Academy Eagles

The First Academy Royals will take on the Montverde Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The First Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

The First Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Windermere Prep a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Thomas Achey looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Austin Pierzynski was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Remo Indomenico was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

The First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windermere Prep only posted an OBP of .167.

Meanwhile, Montverde Academy earned a 5-0 win over Foundation Academy on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Arnaldo Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Montverde Academy's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for The First Academy, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. The First Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Montverde Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

The First Academy took their victory against Montverde Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
