A well-balanced attack led Monticello over Urbana in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Sages blew the Tigers out of the water with a 62-17 final score. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Sages this season.

Monticello got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mady Melton out in front who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Those five steals gave Melton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Cresap, who scored 12 points.

Monticello was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Urbana only posted one.

Despite the loss, Urbana still got an impressive performance from Lai'Yonna Harper, who earned 12 points and three steals. That was a full 70.6% of the Tigers' points, marking the third time in a row Harper has had more than a third of the team's points.

The win was the third in a row for Monticello, bringing their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Urbana, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Monticello will take on Mt. Pulaski at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Urbana, they will challenge Urbana University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
