The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Belen Jesuit Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stoneman Douglas' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Belen Jesuit's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Stoneman Douglas narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Western 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.
Chase Wildrout looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Michael Ossenfort was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Erick Torres was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Stoneman Douglas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Belen Jesuit came up short against Cardinal Newman on Tuesday and fell 4-1. The loss was the Wolverines' first of the season.
Frankie Aleman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Belen Jesuit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Cueto, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Cueto also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Stoneman Douglas' record now sits at 3-1. As for Belen Jesuit, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stoneman Douglas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Belen Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Stoneman Douglas took their win against Belen Jesuit in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Stoneman Douglas repeat their success, or does Belen Jesuit have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
