Football Recap: Piper Piles Up the Points Against Fort Lauderdale

After only 12 points in their last matchup, Piper made sure to put some points up on the board against Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday. The Bengals breezed past the Flying L's to the tune of 35-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bengals' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Piper's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Imani Delcid-Barnes, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD. Delcid-Barnes got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Morvia Stephenson, who picked up 52 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Piper didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as J' Alliyah Shorter, Stephenson, and D' Yanni McDowell picked up one apiece. McDowell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Piper has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.4 points on average over those games. As for Fort Lauderdale, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Piper wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-0 victory against Chaminade-Madonna on the 2nd. As for Fort Lauderdale, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-12 defeat against McArthur on the 2nd.
