Baseball Game Preview: Berkley Bears vs. Royal Oak Ravens

The Berkley Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Royal Oak Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berkley will be strutting in after a win while Royal Oak will be coming in after a defeat.

Berkley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cranbrook Kingswood on Monday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Cranes. The Bears not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7th (when they won 15-0).

Noah Curtis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Field, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Drew Sermo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Berkley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cranbrook Kingswood only managed seven hits.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Royal Oak's offense. They lost 8-0 to Romeo on Monday. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Royal Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Berkley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-15.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Berkley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Royal Oak struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Berkley beat Royal Oak 6-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
