Baseball Game Preview: Santa Fe Christian Eagles vs. Classical Academy Caimans

For the second straight game, Santa Fe Christian will face off against Classical Academy. The Eagles will face off against the Caimans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Santa Fe Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Classical Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Caimans by a score of 9-8.

For Classical Academy's part, they got a great performance from Chaeton Revilla as he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Revilla has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Travis Perry and Sammy McNemar did most of the damage at the plate: Perry went 4-for-5 with three runs and two doubles, while McNemar got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Perry is becoming a predictor of Classical Academy's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Hoff, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Santa Fe Christian dropped their record down to 8-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Classical Academy, they moved to 7-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
