League recap: Santa Barbara climbs in standings with win

Santa Barbara was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in Channel. The Dons beat Centennial 24-21 earlier in the week.

Santa Barbara moved up to 134 from 184 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Doug Caines's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 24-21 win over the Golden Hawks.

Buena's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. David Corral threw for 243 and four touchdowns and Dylan Colman had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Chris Beeson chipped in 98 yards. Tyler Harbert helped Buena's passing attack out by catching four balls for 62 yards.

The Bulldogs' Corral and Colman have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Corral has thrown for 716 yards this season, while Colman, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 22 catches for 292 yards. Anthony Spiritosanto from Dos Pueblos leads the league in rushing with 171 yards.

The Dons and Centennial played the most hotly contested game in Channel this week, with the Dons eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory.
