Volleyball Recap: Somerville's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Somerville was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Chelsea last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlanders fell 3-1 to the Greater Lowell Tech Gryphons on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2022.

Somerville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18.

The defeat snapped Somerville's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-9 record. As for Greater Lowell Tech, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home.

Somerville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greater Lowell Tech, they will take on Wayland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
