            Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins vs. Columbia City Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Fort Wayne Northrop had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it seven. They took  a  5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbia City Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  9-3  two weeks ago.
 Fort Wayne Northrop saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Baylee Huth, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  run.
As for Columbia City, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.8 runs over those games.
On Columbia City's side,  Emma Hiss was a  major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Hiss has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Madelyn Brady was  incredible,  going 1-for-2 with one  home run and three  RBI.
 Coming up, Fort Wayne Northrop will venture away from home to  challenge Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger  at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Columbia City, they will host DeKalb  at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday.
