Softball Recap: Twin Lakes Comes Up Short

Twin Lakes extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Benton Central Bison. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Indians have suffered against the Bison since April 27, 2022.

Myley Spriggs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off seven hits. Spriggs was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Shrock and Miya Clerget stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shrock went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Clerget went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double. Taylor Oliver was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

As for Benton Central, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

On Benton Central's side, the team relied heavily on Madison Minniear, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Minniear a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Sibray, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

While Twin Lakes had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
