Caden Gresham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cadyn Travis, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hopkins County Central came into Tuesday's contest having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Livingston Central 18-4 on Tuesday. The Storm's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brody Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hopkins County Central got a massive performance out of Neilan Bruce, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Bruce a new career-high. Sawyer Allen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Hopkins County Central picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-12. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Heritage Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off Hopkins County Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
