Basketball Recap: Jonathan Cook's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central Christian over Skipstone Academy

Central Christian was the 77-32 winner over Skipstone Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Christian Crusaders fell 60-49 to the Skipstone Academy Warriors on Thursday. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Central Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Cook, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Steidinger, who earned 16 points and six rebounds.

Skipstone Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scooter Barkley led the charge by putting up 32 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Barkley has scored at least a third of Skipstone Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Cloud, who put up 17 points.

Central Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Skipstone Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Trinity Christian School of Griffin the next time they take the court. Central Christian will host Trinity Christian School of Griffin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Skipstone Academy will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
