Baseball Recap: Cherry Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hibbing, Cherry was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Blackduck Drakes by a score of 6-2. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Drakes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Noah Asuma was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Cherry: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Nagel, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Cherry's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Blackduck, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherry will challenge Cloquet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blackduck, they will face off against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
