Baseball Recap: Jasper Takes a Loss

Jasper's last matchup with Lamar could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Eagles came up short against the Tigers, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 back in March.

Jasper saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quentin Winans, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Clayton Anderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Jasper has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Lamar, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Coming up, Jasper will host New Heights Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lamar, they will venture away from home to square off against Monett at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
