Softball Recap: Desert Mountain Extends Road Winning Streak to 15

Desert Mountain barely beat Chaparral the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves blew past the Firebirds 12-2 on Monday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Firebirds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Avery Gehrke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Eve Huczek was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Desert Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Desert Mountain's win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Desert Mountain beat Chaparral by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday.
