Basketball Recap: Lincoln High Sets Scoring Season-High Against Burke

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln High). They walked away with a 73-64 victory over the Burke Bulldogs on Friday. With that win, the Links brought their scoring average up to 52.2 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln High to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Nick, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. Nick's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jairik Gilmore, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nate Vereen-Burton, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Vereen-Burton a new career-high in points. Michael White was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Lincoln High and bumps their season record up to 4-4. As for Burke, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Lincoln High will head out to square off against Lincoln Southwest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.7 points per game this season. As for Burke, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-52 win against Benson on the 4th.
