Softball Recap: Mesa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Valley Vista two weeks ago, Mesa came back down to earth. The Mesa Jackrabbits lost 13-2 to the Casteel Colts on Thursday. The Jackrabbits haven't had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Leah Alcala was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Angela Bujanda also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Casteel, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.

Coming up, Mesa will take on Highland at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Highland will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mesa surely won't give up without a fight. Casteel will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Desert Vista at 3:45 p.m. on March 31st.
