Basketball Game Preview: Comstock Panthers vs. Knippa Crushers

The Comstock Panthers will head out to face off against the Knippa Crushers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Comstock was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to Utopia. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Comstock saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Neal Billings went 9 of 15 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. Those 24 points gave Billings a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Creed Hardin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Knippa). They breezed by Leakey to the tune of 70-25 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Comstock's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-12. As for Knippa, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Comstock beat Knippa 43-36 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Comstock since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
