Basketball Preview: Wabash Apaches vs. Eastern Comets
Wabash is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Eastern a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Saturday. The Wabash Apaches will host the Eastern Comets at 6:00 p.m. Both are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.
Wabash is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Northwestern by a score of 51-49 last Friday. While losing is never fun, the Apaches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Tigers are ranked 178th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Noah Baldwin, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points along with seven boards and three steals. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jarrett Mcwhirt, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Eastern didn't have quite enough to beat Rossville on Friday and fell 58-56. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 19-15 in the first quarter.
Wabash's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Wabash took their victory against Eastern in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 74-48. Will Wabash repeat their success, or does Eastern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
