With a playoff win on the line, Newton rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let Columbia get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Winning may never get old, but Newton sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Columbia, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 24-6 record.

Coming up, Newton will square off against Carterville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Columbia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
