Northern Guilford had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Marvin Ridge Mavericks on Friday, sneaking past 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Nighthawks have posted since March 12th.
Dakotah Wilkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Asyah Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Headen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
