Softball Recap: Nazareth Area Takes Down North Penn in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Nazareth Area walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the North Penn Knights on Monday.

Kylie Grover spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alina Weaver, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Shauna McNamee was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run.

Nazareth Area is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for North Penn, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Nazareth Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Penn, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Nazareth Academy at 2:00 p.m. North Penn's pitchers better be ready for this one: Nazareth Academy has averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
