Softball Recap: Williams Valley Find Success

Williams Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Minersville Battlin' Miners by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Battlin' Miners: they've now won five in a row.

Sage Smeltz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Kobularik, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Fry, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Williams Valley's win bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Minersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

As of now, neither Williams Valley nor the Battlin' Miners have any future games scheduled.
