Baseball Recap: North Takes a Loss

North had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it 13. They came up short against the Doherty Memorial Highlanders, falling 17-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 two weeks ago.

As for Doherty Memorial, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

For Doherty Memorial's part, Ayron Hernandez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Rich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Yeduarlin Calderon-Morel, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will face off against Montachusett RVT at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Doherty Memorial, they will challenge St. Paul at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
