Baseball Recap: Elko Picks Up 16th Consecutive Win

Elko waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Lowry Buckaroos. Considering the Indians have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Travis Monett, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Lowry off the board. Monett has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Coy Jones and Ryder Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Miller went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Roumanos, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Elko always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lowry only posted an OBP of .235.

Elko's record now sits at 24-6. As for Lowry, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-24-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Elko beat the Buckaroos by a score of 10-0 later that day.
