Baseball Recap: Dover-Eyota Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fillmore Central, Dover-Eyota was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Cotter Ramblers. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 victory the Ramblers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Mat Matejka was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dover-Eyota is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Matejka was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kellen Andring, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Tyeson Mullikan was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

The win got Dover-Eyota back to even at 4-4. As for Cotter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover-Eyota will head out to face off against Zumbrota-Mazeppa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cotter, they will venture away from home to square off against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
