Football Recap: Orosi Wins Going Away Against Reedley

Orosi lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Reedley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Cardinals blew past the Pirates 27-6 on Friday. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 24-22 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jason De La Cruz went supernova, rushing for 244 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 51 yards. Leonardo Coronado was another key rusher, rushing for 79 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Orosi was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 380 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reedley only rushed for 65 rushing yards.

When it comes to explaining why Reedley lost, don't look at Will Bacon. Despite the final result, he threw for 169 yards and one touchdown on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 52 yards.

Orosi has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points this season. As for Reedley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Orosi will host Immanuel at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 834 yards in their previous games. As for Reedley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Selma at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
