Baseball Recap: Lake of the Woods Takes a Loss

Lake of the Woods was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Grady Ivall stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ethan Hansen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lake of the Woods' loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Cass Lake-Bena, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Lake of the Woods will be playing in front of their home fans against Blackduck at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cass Lake-Bena, they are taking a road trip to square off against Laporte at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
