Basketball Game Preview: West Holt Huskies vs. North Central Knights

The West Holt Huskies will challenge the North Central Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

North Central is facing West Holt at the wrong time: West Holt suffered their first home loss of the season on Saturday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell 56-46 to the Falcons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Falcons are ranked 64th).

West Holt might have lost, but man, Lincoln Konrad was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Konrad has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Rentschler, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, West Holt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, North Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a hard 56-38 fall against Central Valley.

North Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for West Holt, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

West Holt beat North Central 49-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Does West Holt have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
