Football Recap: Monroe Area's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monroe Area had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pickens Dragons with a sharp 35-13 win. Considering the Purple Hurricanes have won five matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Jitt Carr, who rushed for 159 yards and one score while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monroe Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 472 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Pickens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ike Wyngaard, who picked up 62 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 51 yards.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Monroe Area, bringing their record up to 9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points over those games. As for Pickens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Monroe Area will challenge Sandy Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Purple Hurricanes 12.7, the Patriots 9.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Pickens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
