Baseball Recap: Goldwater Bulldogs vs. Cactus Cobras        
        
		
            
 Goldwater was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight  defeat. They fell just short of the Cactus Cobras by a score of  5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Goldwater of the  22-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
  Braeden Evjen and  Zach LeBlanc put in work while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Evjen   pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  LeBlanc   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Evjen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate,  Evjen  went 2-for-3 with a  triple and a  run, while  LeBlanc  went 1-for-4 with two  RBI and a  double.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Xavier Martinez, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI.
 Like Goldwater, Cactus also got a great game from a two-way player:  Nikolay Stegon. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits. Stegon was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with four  RBI and a  double.
 Goldwater's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Cactus, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-15-1.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goldwater will  face off against Cactus at 3:45  p.m.  on Monday. As for Cactus, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Flagstaff at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
